I want to thank all of you who made it out to the Pre-season Hangout last Tuesday night. It was great seeing all the returning teams and meeting many of the new teams. I can tell the competition is going to be strong this year.
For those of you who made it to the party there was a giveaway which consisted of guessing how many small balls were in a glass container, with the winner providing the closest guess without going over. There were 27 entries and 1 clear winner. The correct answer was 344 which makes the winner Brian Hodge of The Rolling Stones, who guessed 320! Congratulations Brian! You are now the proud owner of lawn/beach bocce set.
I had also asked you all to suggest names for the two league divisions that divide teams this year. After careful deliberation I’d like to announce the two winning names.
Replacing the Blue Division, representing teams Team Tony (Danza), Bocce-licious, CHEWBOCCE, Sandy Balls, Mission Imbocceball, Bocce Job, Pass the Bocce and Robot Ch’i: Joy Division. Replacing Red Division, representing teams The Rolling Stones, Bi-occe, Boccelism, Castration Station, Deboccery, BocceGrabbers, Bocce Ya Self and (the soon to be announced team replacing) Close to Spectacular: The New Order.
Monday begins out first full week of games. As you know our official set of bocce balls are kept at Tazza, however I just learned that Tazza will be closed in the afternoon on Mondays. I’ve asked the owners of the new Bodega Masalana, who will be open Monday afternoons, to also keep a set of balls so feel free to pop in and ask them for the set. In either case, whether you take balls out from Tazza or Masalana, be sure to bring them back from whence they were borrowed after your game is complete.
