Today, as you may or may not know, is the first day of Spring. Can you believe it? I don’t know how it happened so suddenly but here we are. I know I don’t need to tell you how amazingly beautiful it’s been outside the last couple of days, but it is simply perfect. Thanks global warming. If you’re anything like me it’s these rare Spring days that really help me refuel and remember how great the Summner months are in Providence. It also helps me remember what I look forward to, as for example a brand new season of Downcity Bocce!
At this time, as I’m trying to wrap my head around the new season, I’d like to extend priority registration to all of the teams who played last year. Because I’d like to start the season a little earlier than last year the due date for priority registration will be April 1, 2012. Hopefully this will give everyone enough time to solidify a team to come back with. If you do plan on coming back please email me here with your Team name, Name of Team Captain (contact person) and his/her phone number and email address.
After April 1 I will open up registration to new teams if there is any room so be sure to get back to be before then if you want to come back for the 2012 season!
As of right now the season will be setup much like it was last year. If you have any suggestions on how to make this season better, now is the time! I look forward to seeing all of you again very soon and happy Spring!
P.S. Although not it’s not quite official we’re currently working on plans to renovate/rebuild the existing bocce court. Hopefully if all goes according to plan we’ll have a brand new court with a better playing surface before the start of the season. I’ll keep you posted!
Update 3/21: Work started today. The court will soon be rebuilt and finished with a crushed stone surface which will be packed down for a harder smoother surface. We’ll still have the large stones to contend with but overall it should be a huge improvement.
