Welcome to PDBL 2012

Schedule

I am very pleased to announce that the official schedule for the 2012 season is up and ready to go. Please take a look at it, download it and keep a copy of it in your wallet. I hope that we are lucky that the weather cooperates this year, but if you do have to make a game up due to rain or would like to reschedule any of your games for any other reason please be sure to contact the opposing team’s captain in advance. I will shortly send all team captains a contact sheet with email addresses and phone numbers. Games can be made up anytime during the regular season when no other game is scheduled or when there is an event taking place in at the Grant’s Block. The schedule can be found here: http://www.providencebocce.com/schedule/.

Returning Teams

I am happy to say that we have 7 really great teams returning from last year. They are Dog Face Boys, Sandy Balls, Schrodinger’s Balls, CHEWBOCCE, Close to Spectacular, Bi-occe and of course our 2011 season champions, Team Tony (Danza). This is the first year that a team who has won the previous year has returned, so you better watch your back (Danza) because these teams want revenge!

Fresh Blood

We also have some very mysterious competition heading our way with the addition of 5 new teams to the league. Please welcome The Score, Bocc-Grabbers, Boccelism, bocce-ca-wow-wow and The Rolling Stones! For you first timers, I took the liberty in pairing each of you with one of our veteran teams for the first week of games. Don’t worry they don’t bite too hard. These teams have been doing this for a while now and I’m sure would be happy to give you the rundown of how things work.

Pre Season Party

I will send each of the team captains an email regarding the details. All I can say here is that it’ll be on Monday, May 7 from 5pm to 8pm at a undisclosed location downtown. Think of it as a fun little meet and greet before the games begin, where we can all hang out and share a drink like friends before the smack down occurs on the court. It should be a lot of fun and I hope to see you there.
